If you need to go on a trip, you probably need a car, and taking yours with you might not always be the best option. The important thing is to not go with the first car rental agency you find on arrival. If you do this then you will probably end up paying an unusually high price that could have been avoided if you just did a bit of comparison shopping.
Car rental prices are going to be higher at airports because they can charge more to travelers who are just getting off of the plane. This is a sad but true fact, and you will need to decide whether or not you want to pay these prices. If you do not, then you can pay a cab to take you to a car rental agency off of the airport property.
When you choose an agency you will want to make sure they have all the features you need. For instance you will need insurance, and when you rent you will want to see whether they will provide that insurance or if you will need to provide your own. If they do provide insurance, then find out if it will cost you extra.
In addition to this you will need to find out how old you need to be to rent a vehicle. In most of the United States you will need to be twenty-five years old. In some parts of the world you will be permitted to drive at the age of sixteen and older so long as you have a cosigner.
Make sure you do a lengthy comparison and know which car rental agencies are near your destination. This information will help you greatly in your search, and knowing which agencies are the cheapest will help you out even more. Just remember that the cheapest car rental agency might not always be the best solution. As long as you keep that in mind you should have no problem getting the car you need as soon as you need it.
There are plenty of car rental agencies out there, whether they are at an airport or on their own private lot. Do your research beforehand and if you can, contact them before you arrive. In some cases you might be able to reserve your rental ahead of time which will result in a much lower price. These are the basics of car rental, and if you know them you will have a very enjoyable vacation.
